Stacy represented me in a complicated divorce case. When I first cold-called her, she answered the call even though she was on vacation. I was facing an urgent situation, and she gave me crucial advice even though I wasn't even her client yet. This turned into a long, drawn-out negotiation and legal process, but Stacy was familiar with all the legal ins and outs, and she had clearly seen all these sorts of things before. I myself had no understanding of virtually anything related to the process, so it was invaluable to have an experienced pro to guide me through everything. Stacy was accessible and responsive, which were important qualities for me. I was in the beginning stages of my divorce when the firm I had representing me dropped me bc of a misunderstanding and lack of communication. I was literally standing in court with out a lawyer. I was referred to Stacy by another firm while I was scrambling to find representation. I knew NOTHING about her. What a god send it turned out to be. She feverishly rushed to get caught up quickly. She gave me personal attention. There was no question who was helping me. Once she caught herself up, she and I easily planned how to communicate with each other. She made it clear and easy what legal jargon I needed to pay attention to. We communicated in a way that made me at ease with everything swirling around me. From there we made a plan for what we wanted to achieve on 2 fronts. Most importantly, custody of my kids, and then the financial agreement to follow. Following a late night buzzer beater we hammered out a custody agreement the night before our trial date. It wasn’t exactly what I wanted, but as it turns out, the schedule was exactly what I needed. Keeping it out of trial helped ease the tension between my ex and myself- allowing us to co-parent together for the best of our kids. The financial part was tricky. I was the defendant, a man, who needed alimony and child support due to a disease I developed during the marriage that would put me on indefinite disability. Without going into specific details, I was wanting a “fair” divide, and my ex didn’t want to pay ANY alimony. The judge ended up giving us way more than our offer to them was. Having to hire an attorney isn’t always a pleasant experience. You find some who always seem to busy to get back to you or you get the one who has the “I’ll get to it later” attitude. Stacey Talbott is neither of these. When I contacted her she immediately had the answers I needed and quickly came up with a plan of action. I currently reside out of state and different time zones. I would email her in the middle of the night with a question and to my surprise would get an answer back no matter the time. Stacey really helped put me at ease during the whole matter, which isn’t easy todo especially when it’s having to do with fighting for your children. I do not recommend hiring Ms Talbott. You actually hire her assistant who wasn't helpful. My divorce was fairly straight forward and ended up getting delayed because when the separation agreement was sent my ex didn't realize she had to print and fill out the "Answer" to the divorce. When I asked where that form was on the courts website so I could print it off and send it to my ex to sign I was told search for "answer to divorce". I did so and the form I printed was apparently the complaint for the divorce so when they showed me the correct form it turns out its called a CCDR-50 which is the first link on google. If I was given the correct name originally my divorce wouldn't have taken as long as it did. Among other small issues I did not enjoy my experience using her as my divorce lawyer and would not recommend her services. — Kyle 12/19/2018 |
